Social Issues: Commuters

leave a comment »

Aren’t we all tired of obnoxious commuters who just spoils your simple travel to something so unbearable? Today my discussion is about the few types of commuters that just grind my gears.

Commuter No.1 : Never ever abides by the MRT “allow passengers to alight before boarding” policy.

Is it really that hard? Just stand at the side of the gates and let everyone out first before boarding. There really ain’t a need to rush if you’re afraid that the gates might close before you get in. The only reason why it seems so fast is because you have spent too much time creating a human traffic jam at the gate creating a stalemate of alighting and boarding passengers thus slowing traffic tragically. If you’re just dying for that seat, perhaps you could ask for one should you really need it that desperately. Why cause inconvenience to everyone around you just so you can benefit? Singapore no longer the radiant lion city after traveling on a public transport.

Commuter No.2: Pushy people who are “mute”

These people are the stupidest and probably mute. In order for them to get off their seat (bus) or alight from the train, they will shove their way around be it using their hands, arms, legs, pelvic thrusting(strange i know). If you need people to be AWARE that you want to move across, please say “excuse me”. Passengers don’t have eyes that covers a 360 view around them to notice that you want to get off.

Commuter No.3: The Rushers! similar to No.1 but appears on buses

The rushers have a tendency to be the first to board the bus, and the first to alight the bus. They will dive into the crowd and shove their way to the front. Being first gives you more liberation to choose your seats but on a peak period where you very well know there are NO seats left. Don’t be stupid and annoy everyone around you, makes me want to trip this people. Being first doesn’t give you a prize. These commuters also need to be at the alighting doors first. When the bus/train is packed with people they just can’t wait till the vehicle comes to a stop to start saying excuse me but they have to whilst its moving. Never mind if they don’t really create any trouble, but a moderate percentage of them cannot balance thus they’ll lose balance and upon gaining back that balance they knocked many other people and perhaps stomped on several feet in that process. Show some PATIENCE!

many more unmentioned but still at large
